Home Technology Making Lives Better – HGTV Smart Home 2021
This week’s HGTV® Smart Home 2021 premiere showcased just how much smarter our homes can be with the latest in home technology and I was thrilled to be the 2021 Tech and Wellness Expert for the project.
Home Technology And Smart Design Elements Showcased
The Naples, Florida home has beautiful regional architecture and the views of the golf course and lake are just incredible! Wondering how I got involved? Click this previous blog for the details.
Inside, it was a priority to find new technology big and small, which would help the HGTV Smart Home be the smartest ever.
Be sure you visit HGTV’s website here for great videos, behind-the-scenes and even more details on the home and amazing sponsors! Here’re are my top elements that will inspire you!
Clean Room: Navigating through the new normal, cleaner spaces remain a priority and a combination utility/laundry room serves as a strong defense from germs. A black wireless sensor opens an automatic pocket door connecting the clean room to the laundry room. Use the UV Sterilizing Wand and kill 99.9 % of germs in 30 seconds on backpacks, shoes and purses or activate the UV Lamp to sanitize the space – movable to other rooms.
Package Drop: Adjacent to the front door and accessible from the clean room is a package drop. Protect your deliveries from the elements and you can decontaminate packages before bringing into the main home.
Charging Countertops and Smart Keurig: Start you day off fully charged and caffeinated. Any part of your home that integrates a solid surface can power up with a Corian® Charging Surface including kitchen countertops, breakfast nooks, bathroom counters, dining areas and more – wireless charging keeps your home, and your smart devices, at full capacity. And, grab your coffee from the K-Supreme Plus coffee maker featuring MultiStream Technology – an innovative way to more evenly saturate coffee grounds in every K-Cup pod.
Kohler: From the kitchen and the clean room to the main bathroom, you’ll find smart Kohler products. The owner’s bathroom and pool bathroom at the home feature the Eri Intelligent toilet. The motion-activated cover and seat uses sensors for hands-free opening/closing and flushing. It also includes a heated seat, customizable cleansing and a night light. Select your personal preferences through the touch-screen remote. Also in the owner’s bathroom is the DTV+ Digital Interface. DTV+ is Kohler’s most advanced showering system bringing together water, steam, lighting and music. Through a mounted control center or voice activation, you can walk into the shower with the perfect temperature, set all your shower preferences ahead of time or create a spa like experience.
Smart Mirror: Also, a smart Kohler product, the Verdera voice activated light mirror is in the owner’s bathroom. The Amazon Alexa-enabled Verdera Voice mirror brings optimally bright, shadowless light and full stereo sound to your bathroom with convenient voice command.
VELUX® No Leak Skylights: These skylights were used throughout the Smart Home in the bedrooms and lanai area. VELUX skylights come with energy efficient glass and are solar powered. They require no wiring at installation and also have a built-in rain sensor, which will automatically close the skylight should it begin to rain.
Multi-functional Space: Every home in 2021 needs multi-functional rooms and the Smart Home’s study can serve as office space, home school or movie night! Control light or temperature from your phone and access the clever coffee station for a midday pick me up!
Savant Control System: With one touch, the Savant Control System allows you to adjust the temperature and control the lighting system within your home. Using your smartphone, you can check in on your home no matter where you are. The Savant Control System also offers voice activation capabilities.
